The four-mile, USATF-certified (recertified in 2013) course starts in downtown Bridgton and passes through wooded Maine terrain in a backroads loop back to downtown Bridgton. The course has two hills that make it a scenic and challenging track. Water and time clocks are located at Miles 1, 2, and 3.
In the Start Area beginning at about 7:40 AM, the Race Director conducts a brief ceremony that includes the National Anthem and the introduction of an Honorary Starter. Also at this time, appropriate information about the race is provided. This ceremony ends with the Race Start at 8:00 AM.
Live music, refreshments (water, Gatorade, watermelon slices) and awards take place at the Finish Area. A short awards ceremony follows the race at approximately 9:15 AM.
There is lots of room for spectators to observe the Start and Finish Areas and the awards ceremony. T-shirts with a unique design for each year’s race are available for purchase in the Registration/Finish Area at the Bridgton Memorial School on Depot Street. Portable toilets are available in the Start Area and the Registration/Finish Area.
Bikes, pets, skates and headsets are not permitted on the course. Strollers are permitted but are expected to start from the back of the start pack.
