MESSAGE FROM BILL GRAHAM, 4 ON THE FOURTH RACE DIRECTOR
To our Faithful 4 on the Fourth Runners…..Our next race is Thursday, July 4, 2024 at 8 a.m. Runners can arrive as early as 6 a.m. The 4 on the Fourth is a classic road race held each summer in the heart of Maine’s lake region. The race starts in town and takes runners through a beautiful rolling course with a mix of hills, fields, and lake views, ending with a fast fourth mile and an exhilarating finish. If you would like to see the entire 4-mile course, check out our Course Map and detailed videos with audio tips!It’s time again to begin registration for our annual race. As always, the first 500 runners to register will receive a free tech t-shirt with a unique 2024 design. The new race-themed mural awaits you at the start line, and the roads over the first three miles of the race course have been resurfaced, so sign up for another great race. There’s a $500 prize for anyone who breaks the course record, and there are awards for the top five male and female finishers. We have had several requests for MERCHANDISE and with thanks to our partners at Maine Street Graphics, race logo ball caps and water bottles are available for purchase this year! HIGHLIGHTS FROM 2023
2023 was in many ways our best race in our 47 continuous years. Registrations and total runners regained pre-COVID Numbers, with a well attended and safe set of two races. Across the board we raised the bar. Our Kids Fun Run on July 3 broke previous records with 175 runners. Our July 4/ Four Miler registered over 1900 runners, with 1711 finishing on a humid morning in the Lake Region. For 2023 the race donated $62,000 to the greater Bridgton Community, with $56,500 going to the Bridgton Public Library. These numbers are a 20% gain over 2022, our previous record year for fund raising. Our volunteers, total sponsorship, and excellent town support have been key to this success. RACE BIB & TIMING CHIP PICK-UP
Early pick-up of the 4 on the Fourth race bibs and t-shirts will be available from 3:30-6:00 PM on July 3 at the Finish Area at old Memorial School on Depot Street. Race day pick-up of bibs and t-shirts will begin at 6:00 AM at the same location on July 4.
Race bibs for the Kids Fun Run/Walk must be picked up from 3:30-4:15 on race day (July 3) at the Fun Run registration table at the back of Stevens Brook Elementary School. Parking is available in the school parking lot.
2023 RACE T-SHIRTS
2023 T-shirts will be available for purchase online at the registration site, at early pick-up on July 3, and on race day on July 4.
